No injuries were reported and one driver was cited after a school bus loaded with students was struck by a vehicle in Henderson County. According to Chief Deputy Matthew Link at around 7:42 on Friday, a Buick Park Avenue driven by 42-year-old Michael R. Russell of Qquawka was westbound on Illinois Route 164 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the driver's side tire of a West Central School District Bus. The 2022 Thomas School Bus was transporting 37 students and its driver at the time of the crash. Both vehicles sustained major damage. No injuries were reported and all the students were evaluated by Emergency Medical crews that arrived on the scene. Russell was issued two citations, one for improper lane usage and the other for no insurance on a motor vehicle. Assisting agencies included the Oquawka, Biggsville, Stronghurst, and Burlington ambulance services, as well as the Oquawka and Gladstone fire departments as well as Berg's Towing.
Oquawka, Ill.- One person was cited after crashing his vehicle into a school bus. According to a news release, on Friday, March 25th, at 7:42 AM, Henderson County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on IL Rt. 164 at Township Road 1450E in the Township of Oquawka, east of Oquawka. 42 year old Michael R. Russell of Oquawka, IL, was travelling westbound on IL Rt. 164, near Township Road 1450E. Russell lost control of his vehicle and struck the rear passenger side tire of a West Central School Bus. The school bus was transporting 37 West Central Students to school. Both of the vehicles sustained major damages. There were no injuries reported and all of the students on the school bus were evaluated by EMS crews. Russell was issued two citations, one for Improper Lane Usage and the second citation was for No Insurance on a Motor Vehicle.
