Midland Health Has Administered Over 50,000 COVID Vaccines But Not All to Midlanders
Midland Health has given out those 50,000 shots but they say only about 30,000 have been to Midland County residents.
According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, Midland Health CEO Russell Meyers says about 20,000 doses have went to people from outside of Midland because they are not requiring anyone to be a resident of Midland County to get the vaccine.
“We’ve got people from all over Texas who have come here and gotten vaccines, several hundred from El Paso, about 100 each from just about every town in the state,” Meyers said. “I think it’s a safe bet that at least 30,000 Midlanders have been vaccinated, maybe higher than that.” ....

Midland Health responds to Gov. Abbott ending mask mandate

Midland Health responds to Gov. Abbott ending mask mandate
FacebookTwitterEmail
Midland Health released a statement following Gov. Greg Abbott s announcement that he is rescinding the statewide mask order:
While we appreciate the Governor’s desire to fully reopen Texas, Midland Health’s position is that we have not vaccinated enough of the population to be confident we are nearing herd immunity.
Further, despite removal of the statewide mask mandate, I hope everyone will continue, for the near term, the effective practices of social distancing and masking when in close proximity to others. Until we are able to vaccinate the majority of our population, these strategies are the only way to continue the reduction of COVID-19 and the near elimination of Flu and most other respiratory infections we have experienced during the pandemic. ....
