Devdutt Pattanaik disagreed with J Robert Oppenheimer's interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita, and said that the physicist was probably in a 'dharam sankat'.
Indian mythologist and writer Devdutt Pattanaik has recently challenged this interpretation, asserting that Oppenheimer misconstrued the original quote from the ancient text. Speaking with The Indian Express, Pattanaik elucidated the accurate translation as, "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One… I become death, the destroyer of worlds."
