Perennials are beginning to emerge in the garden and volunteers are busy getting ready for another season. Steve Kohls / Brainerd Dispatch Northland Arboretum will host an Arbor Day celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at 14250 Conservation Drive in Brainerd. The free family event encourages people to get outdoors and discover the Arboretum and all that its 500 acres have to offer. Attendees can interact with Pine Grove Zoo animals, participate in Master Naturalist guided tours, make May Day baskets, join guided bird walks, participate in a scavenger hunt, catch bugs, fly a kite, and learn about the fitness and dog walk trails. ....
