Security threats force closure of three military-affiliated universities in Islamabad amid Pakistan's upcoming elections and rising militant attacks

Three universities tied to Pakistan's military, including the National Defence University, Bahria University, and Air University, were shut down in Islamabad due to security threats. Thousands of auxiliary security forces will be deployed in the capital and northwestern region near Afghanistan during the elections. Last year, casualties reached a six-year high, with over 1,500 people killed.

The National Defense University, Air University, and Bahria University, along with other higher institutions, were closed temporarily after receiving intelligence about a possible attack.
