BATON ROUGE, La. (KSLA) The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) unanimously approved the Minimum Foundation Program (MFP) formula for the 2021-22 school year, increasing state education funding by an estimated $80 million.
Approximately half of the formula will fund an annual pay raise of $400 for teachers and $200 for support staffers. A 1.375% increase to the statewide per-pupil amount would boost state aid to public school systems by $40 million.
“As we initiate the funding process for K-12 education and the state budget picture comes into clearer focus, it remains important to continue moving the salaries of our dedicated Louisiana teachers toward the regional average, and ensure increased funding support for our schools and school systems as they continue ....

Every public school teacher and support employee who wanted the COVID-19 vaccine will have received at least one dose by week’s end, less than two weeks after school workers became eligible for the immunization in Louisiana.
That’s the update Assistant Superintendent Lisa Bastion gave members of the Lincoln Parish School Board during Tuesday’s regular board meeting.

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Lottery Corporation reported more than $10.4 million in winning tickets for its draw-style games during January highlighted by three Easy 5 jackpot-winning tickets totaling $262,920. Also during January, scratch-off players claimed nearly $18.9 million in cash prizes.
January’s draw-style game winnings included one Powerball with Power Play match-4 + PB prize worth $150,000, five Powerball match-4 + PB prizes totaling $250,000 and 128 Powerball match-4 prizes totaling $12,800. There was also one Mega Millions with Megaplier match-4 + MB prize worth $40,000, six Mega Millions match-4 + MB prizes totaling $60,000 and 117 Mega Millions match-4 prizes totaling $58,500.
