Drought: 68% of groundwater at insufficient levels despite rain

"In March and April 2023, cumulative precipitation was surplus over a large part of the territory," says the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research (BRGM) A month ago 75% of the aquifers were at moderately low or very low levels, making "proven" the risk of summer drought for some regions. On 1 May, 17% of groundwater tables were above monthly normals (8% in March), but 68% of levels remained at "very low" or "moderately low"
