The Becker County Food Pantry will be getting a new building. About two dozen people gathered to break ground at the site of the new food pantry on Wednesday, May 24.
“There’s a lot you can do without necessarily having a building,” advised Peter Jacobson, chief executive director of the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center (DLCCC).
The Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics and Fitness received their preliminary approval for an expanded facility during a meeting of the Detroit Lakes City Council on Sept. 13. The city, owners of the property and building the MN Flyers use, amended the management agreement with the non-profit to allow for the expansion and the approval will also allow the group's capital fundraising campaign to begin for the upgraded building.

Members of Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics presented their plans for expansion to the Detroit Lakes City Council during their regular meeting on June 14. The new expansion would more than double the size of the current facility and ensure that no kids would be turned away in the future if they want to enroll in a program, the organization's director said.
