Maharashtra Spent Rs 155 Crore On Publicity Campaigns In 16 Months, Reveals RTI

An RTI filed by Anil Galgali revealed that Uddhav Thackeray government spent Rs 155 crore.
Mumbai (Maharashtra):
The Directorate General of Information and Public Relations has informed RTI activist Anil Galgali that the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government has spent Rs 155 crore on publicity campaigns in the last 16 months.
He had asked for the information from State government on various expenditures incurred on the campaign since the formation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
The Directorate General of Information and Public Relations provided Anil Galgali with information on the expenditure incurred on the campaign in the 16 months from 11 December 2019 to 12 March 2021.
In the year 2020, a total of Rs 104.55 crore was spent on publicity campaigns of 26 departments. Rs 5.96 crore has been spent on the publicity campaign on the occasion of Women's Day. Rs 9.99 crore has been spent on the Padam department, Rs 19.92 crore on National Health Mission, Rs 22.65 crore on a special publicity campaign in four phases.

Hyderabad City Congress Committee (HCCC) Minorities Department chairman Sameer Waliullah has demanded that the government distribute ₹10,000 to each poor Muslim family instead of giving Ramzan gift, which contains a few pairs of clothes worth a few hundred rupees.
“Coronavirus pandemic, lockdown, night curfew and other restrictions have shattered the economy badly affecting the daily wage earners and salaried class. Therefore, the State government should avoid any symbolic gestures of giving Ramzan gift packs and help the affected people by either giving them cash or depositing the amount in their accounts,” he said in a statement here.

ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has said that it can only implement the SC’s one-man commission’s direction -- calling for the exclusion of all religious content from different subjects and restricting it to Islamiat -- with the approval of
the provincial cabinet, Muttahida Ulema Board (MUB) and National Curriculum Council (NCC).
In its letter written to the concerned authorities on April 20, 2021, the MD PCTB said that the ‘decision’ of the one-man commission, as conveyed to it by the HR and Minorities Department, was placed before the PCTB’s board in its 81st meeting on April 19.

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], February 19 (ANI): The Punjab Cabinet on Friday approved the restructuring of five more departments in a bid to generate jobs across departments and enhance functional efficiency through optimum utilization of manpower.
The decision of the Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, will lead to the creation of 1,875 new posts, with 3,720 existing ones, which had become defunct or irrelevant, to be surrendered, according to a statement of the Punjab government.
The five Departments to be restructured are Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Social Security and Women and Child Development, Planning, Social Justice Empowerment and Minorities and Civil Aviation, the statement read.

Congress demands immediate release of budget for minorities’ welfare

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Congress Committee (HCCC) Minorities Department Chairman Sameer Waliullah on Monday demanded that the Telangana Government immediately release the funds which were allocated for the welfare of minorities in the budget for 2020-21.
Sameer Waliullah, in a media statement, expressed deep concern over non-release of allocated funds for various schemes, especially those concerning education of minorities. He pointed out that an amount of Rs. 1,344.77 Crore was allocated for the implementation of various schemes during the year 2020-21. However, so far, Budget Release Orders (BROs) have been issued only for an amount of Rs. 908.41 Crore. He said lakhs of students were badly affected due to non-release of funds for more than 10 schemes.
