It might not feel like it, but according to the calendar, spring started this week, which means stakes season is right around the corner. And last year’s Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Super Final champions are preparing for their return to the racetrack.
“I was in a bad spot, her speed bailed me out big time,” said a relieved Bob McClure of Warrawee Xenia, who overcame an overland trip with her impressive speed to haul down favourite Adare Castle in the second of two $80,368 Simcoe Stakes divisions for three-year-old trotting fillies, part of the star studded program on Saturday (Sept. 3) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Reigning Ontario Sires Stakes divisional champion Adare Castle will be looking for more Gold this evening (Monday, June 6) when she arrives at Woodbine Mohawk Park to take on seven others in the season's first $157,200 Gold event for three-year-old trotting fillies.
