MARSHALL The Marshall community was out in full force Thursday night to celebrate the “Trey Day” festivities held downtown with local bars and restaurants packed with fans eager to witness Trey Lance make history as the first Marshall High School graduate to reach the National Football League. The former Tiger turned North Dakota State University quarterback waited through just two selections before hearing his name called by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as the San Fransisco 49ers made Lance the third overall selection in the 2021 Draft. When Goodell announced the selection the crowd gathered at the Varsity Pub and establishments around Marshall let out a roar in support of the hometown kid achieving his childhood dream. ....

The overtime loss gives the Rush 3 of a possible four points up for grabs in their “three-in-three” this weekend with the series finale looming tomorrow afternoon. For a third straight game, the Rush opened up the scoring entries, but left deadlocked after 20 minutes in a back and forth frame. Since arriving on the scene, he has been a motivational force on campus and his infectious can-do attitude and enthusiasm have gained Maxwell a legion of fans. “I want to give my best every day in hopes that others will as well,” he said. An educator for 24 years who describes himself as “drawn to schools and programs described as underdogs in some way,” Maxwell was chosen as principal at Waller because of his vision for changing the school’s culture.
