The season-long saga of the Seanote may be nearing its end. The 58-foot yacht has been unceremoniously moored in a Hennepin County-owned boat launch since late December, racking up parking tickets and nuisance violations from the nearby Water Patrol. Its unpermitted presence prompted the county to file a lawsuit, arguing the 45-ton boat (currently filled with 200 gallons of fuel) is precipitously perched and a potential danger — and ordering the watercraft's owners to move it elsewhere.

Every year, as March inches closer, the DNR puts out shelter removal deadline reminders, in which it has to urge anglers to simply pick up after themselves and not leave garbage behind. 2022 is no exception, with the agency in a news release calling the irresponsibly abandoned garbage "an eyesore at best and an environmental concern at the worst.”

It all likely stemmed from people dumping their pets into local waters a few years ago.
