NuLu Marketplace: Bars, restaurants, boutiques at new Louisville space

NuLu Marketplace is open for business, city leaders announced at a grand opening ceremony Thursday morning. So what should visitors expect?
The massive business hub in the 800 block of E. Market and E. Main streets has been in the works for years, with anchor businesses like West Sixth Brewing and Buff City Soap opening in recent months and more tenants coming soon.
Mayor Greg Fischer said the project is a good example of momentum behind development in Louisville. The construction process took vision and persistence through the coronavirus pandemic, he said, but the final product is impressive.
"I know a lot of us have been coming by this place for a long period of time. … And watching the development take place over these last couple years," Fischer said. "… I think this is going to be one of the premier redevelopments in the entire country.”

The Nulu Marketplace mixed-use development has added lodging to its offerings, Louisville Business First reports.Louisville businessman and real estate investor Mo Deljoo said Wednesday that four furnished Airbnb units should hit the market inside the roughly 50,000-square-foot complex by next week.Click here to view photos of the unitsTwo of the units are on the north side of the complex along the 800 block of East Market and East Main streets while the other two are on the south side. There is a mix of one-, two- three-bedroom options, and they range in size from 1,200 to 1,400 square feet, he said. Deljoo originally envisioned turning the spaces into apartments, but he ultimately thought the short-term rental concept was a better feature for the complex. “NuLu has become a major attraction for tourists and as they come there and stay they have everything right there. They don’t have to drive,” he said.The units, he added, have modern features and are themed to celebrate Kentucky’s heritage, including bourbon, to appeal to tourists.
