The demolition of two mosques in India within days of each other has highlighted the deep religious divide in the country, months before voters head to the polls for a nationwide election that is expected to hand Prime Minister Narendra Modi a rare third term in power.
Violence that erupted after a mosque and school were demolished has killed six people and deepened divisions.
Talking to The Indian Express, Anas’s brother Mohammad Aman recounted what happened that day. He said both he and his father, Zahid Hussain, were working at a construction site before the chaos erupted. While Aman returned home, his father stayed back to complete some tasks.
