Perarivalan  |  Photo Credit: PTI In a significant development in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, on Thursday, left the decision regarding the release of convict Perarivalan to President Ram Nath Kovind The Governor’s decision was conveyed by the Centre to the Supreme Court hearing Perarivalan’s plea challenging the August 2018 judgment sentencing him to life. The Centre's affidavit was filed by Mohammad Nasim Khan, Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Acting on a tipoff, RPF subinspector GS Adle, head constable Mukesh Dudhane and constable Ravindar Khadse raided the home of Raj Mohammad Nasim Khan in Sector 1, Kalamboli. During questioning, Khan admitted booking several e-tickets through his mobile phone and selling them on for a profit of Rs 100- Rs 200.
