Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Ravindra Waikar was questioned for nine hours on Monday by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with alleged irregularities in construction of a luxury hotel in Jogeshwari in the western part of Mumbai, an official said.
Waikar arrived at the Central agency's south Mumbai office at noon and left at 9pm, he said.
As per the FIR, Waikar had entered into a contract with the BMC after getting permission to run a sports facility at the plot in Jogeshwari. The permission was granted when the Maha Vikas Aghadi government was in power. In early 2023, a notice was issued to him for using a plot of land reserved for a public garden to construct a hotel.
Chaudhari was released from Arthur Road Jail in central Mumbai after completion of formalities, including furnishing of a cash bail of Rs 1 lakh, his lawyer Mohan Tekavde said.
A single-judge bench of Justice Anuja Prabhudessai had concluded hearing the matter and reserved order in Chaudhari's plea on March 28. The order was passed on Monday.
