Ex-PAN adopts resolutions on RIIN, Naga issue

MOKOKCHUNG The Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) has adopted two resolutions pertaining to Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) and Naga political negotiations during its general body meeting held at Niathu Resort, Chümoukedima, on May 21. Appreciating the government of Nagaland for initiated RIIN to check the influx of illegal migrants and immigrants in the state, the Ex-PAN stated that the commission on RIIN, established by the state government, had already submitted its recommendations and findings to the government more than a year ago. In this regard, the Ex PAN resolved to impress and urge upon the state government to sincerely take up the implementation of RIIN urgently without delay and that there should not be any compromise as far as the date and cut-off year of December 1, 1963 is concerned. “To not use 01.12.1963 as the cut-off date and year will be detrimental to the future of the indigenous citizens of Nagaland,” the Ex-Pan state ....

Planning to purchase additional power at a higher cost as a short term measure Requests citizens to judiciously use electricity DIMAPUR Even as people are beginning to grumble about the rampant power outage amid the rising temperature, the department of Power has informed the consumers and the general public that it has been compelled to impose load shedding throughout Nagaland due to low generation from the hydro power stations. In a press release, the department updated that the state’s power availability is around 147 MW against the peak demand of 180 MW (60MW during the 1990s). ‘The state owned Likimro Hydro Electric Project has also been generating around 6 to 12 MW only out of its installed capacity of 24 MW for approximately 12 hours a day due to poor hydrological condition during this season. “Due to extreme weather conditions during the last few days, there has been rise in the power demand, resulting in burning of distribution transformers due to overloading especially ....
