AN UNQUALIFIED motorist from Cleator Moor leapt from a moving car as he fled from police, leaving the vehicle to roll into parked cars. Carlisle Crown Court heard that 24-year-old Jack Newton, who admitted dangerous driving as well as having no insurance or licence, left behind a trail of damage that cost the car owners involved thousands of pounds. Gerard Rogerson, prosecuting, said the defendant was seen driving somebody else’s Nissan “erratically” through Egremont town centre on March 11, with its engine revving loudly.
