Two missing Free State teenagers Missing while picking herbs At the time of their disappearance, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele explained that the teens – who attended LT Nhlabathi School – went missing at about 10:00 on 4 March 2021. Siphiwe Mlangeni and Moratehi Radebe (both 14 years of age, residing in extension 08 Bohlokong) reportedly went missing while walking alongside the Liebenbergsvlei river next to the railway line. According to Makhele, it was not far from their homes, and they went to the river to pick herbs. A third boy was with them, but the two missing teens took an alternate route. That was the last time they were seen. ....
âââ LUCKY NKUYANE 15:50 Thu, 11 Mar 2021 The body of the other 14-year-old teenage scholar, believed to have drowned at the Liebenbergsvlei River near Bethlehem in the Free State, has been found on Thursday. This is the second body to be retrieved by the police divers after the body of the 14-year-old Moratehi Radebe was retrieved on Wednesday. Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the retrieval of the 14-year-old Siphiwe Mlangeni on Thursday brought closure and ended the lengthy search which took almost a week. He says Mlangeni was identified by his father before he was taken to the government mortuary where a post-mortem will also be conducted to determine the cause of death. It s alleged that Mlangeni and Radebe were with another schoolboy of their age and were walking together to the river next to the railway line, not far from their homes, to pick herbs. ....

Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the body of a scholar at the LT Nhlabathi Primary School, Moratehi Radebe, was found at the said river on Wednesday. The 14-year-old Radebe and his school mate, Siphiwe Mlangeni (14) went missing on Thursday last week after school. It s alleged that Radebe and Mlangeni were with another schoolboy of their age and were walking together to the river next to the railway line, not far from their homes, to pick herbs. Mlangeni is still missing and Makhele adds that the search for him continues. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of Radebe s death. ....

THE search for two missing boys was postponed until Wednesday, 10 March because of high water levels. Siphiwe Mlangeni (14) and Moratehi Radebe (14) from LT Nhlabathi Intermediate School went missing at about 10am on Thursday, 4 March. Police investigations revealed the boys drowned in the Liebenbergvlei River near Bohlokong kasi in Bethlehem. Speaking to Thomas Mkhwanazi said: “We’re getting mixed messages from police and public. Moratehi Radebe and his friend Siphiwe Mlangeni (above) went missing on Thursday, 4 March. “Some say our kids drowned while others say they’re alive. We don’t know who to believe. If they’re dead we need to see the bodies.” ....
