Officials say a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close northbound Exit 111 of Interstate 69 in Madisonville this weekend to apply a new high friction treatment.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) personnel are monitoring traffic along US 41, Interstate 69 and Interstate 24, along with other routes through our local Kentucky counties as eclipse viewers joint with normal afternoon traffic to exit the region. Officials say traffic crossing the Twin Bridges from Indiana headed south is heavy with some delays as vehicles make their way through the US 41 strip in Henderson. As traffic clears the strip headed south onto I-69, traffic volumes are slightly higher than normal but moving smoothly.
Southbound Exit 111 on Interstate 69 will be closed this weekend if weather permits, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Wednesday.
Officials say a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close southbound Exit 111 of Interstate 69 in Madisonville this weekend to begin applying a new high friction treatment. KYTC says weather permitting, southbound Exit 111 to Grapevine Road near the Western Kentucky Archery Complex will close beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, and reopen at 12 a.m. on Sunday. There will be no marked detour. The closest alternative southbound exits are Exit 114 to KY 70 in Madisonville, or Exit 108 to KY 813 at Mortons Gap.
