AREAS and venues in Bolton popular with young people have been linked to a higher than average number of coronavirus cases.

THE sacrifice made by Alice Thomasson will be honoured in a monument to the fallen. Alice a resident of Moses Gate who in 1917 determined that ‘she wanted to do her bit’ for the war effort was the only woman from Bolton to die in active service in World War One. The Friends of Moses Gate received the green light from planners to create the monument at Moses Gate Triangle, junction of Egerton Street and Bolton Road. The structure will be dedicated to those from the area who served in the two World Wars. It will be developed on reclaimed land.

CHILDREN at a nursery in Kearsley will benefit from a new outdoor area thanks to the brilliant efforts of the local community. Around 15 volunteers came together to create a forest school area for toddlers at Grosvenor Nursery School and Day Care Centre. All materials were donated by local groups to the new forest garden - a part of the nursery which has been void for years due to lack of funding and manpower. Old English bulldog Violet A MAN has been left "devastated" after his dog was stolen from his temporary home in Bolton. Thieves broke into Bodeane Rostron's temporary caravan home on Atkinson Farm on Chorley New Road at around 2.30pm on Thursday and took his old English bulldog Violet. The site has been subject to a number of police operations in recent weeks. Police have been contacted for a response.
