EASTPOINTE — The city of Eastpointe is considering an ordinance that would allow it to give out a certain number of recreational marijuana licenses. While some residents have shown support, many have attended City Council meetings to voice their opposition to the ordinance.
The Eastpointe City Council has asked City Attorney Richard Albright to draft an ordinance that would allow recreational marijuana businesses n the city.
The project manager for the Nirvana Center said they hope to be operational, if able, in 90 days at 1007 Lapeer Ave., where a Pizza Hut was formerly located. So far, no permitted marijuana shops have opened in the city.
