A woman who choked on her food said she was saved by her own son because he d already been shown life-saving training. Leyton Carroll, from Wallasey sprung into action on Wednesday evening when his mother, Kate Valentine, got a piece of French bread lodged in her windpipe. The terrified woman managed to alert Leyton who found her in a room unable to breath. But instead of panicking, the 12-year-old Mosslands High School pupil followed a procedure he had been shown by his medically trained mother, striking her on her back until the food was dislodged. Speaking exclusively to the Globe, Kate said: I am a student nurse and clinical support worker and always taught the children basic life saving skills.
