The Ekiti Patriotic Consultative Forum has dragged the state governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and the Accountant General of the State before the State High Court for refusing to release the Certified True Copy of the Contract Document executed between state and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Limited (CCECCL).    The contract is on the Ekiti State Agro-Cargo Airport Project and the group had requested for the document under the Freedom of Information Act.  

The Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from declaring the seats of 26 Rivers State House of Assembly members vacant and conducting fresh elections to fill their seats. The deposed Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Martins Amaewhule, and 25 others secured an interim order restraining INEC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers House of Assembly, Clerk of the House and security agencies from declaring their seats and taking any action to declare the seats of the 26 plaintiffs vacant.

Five persons in the Duta Electoral Area in the Ketu South have filed an interim injunction restraining the Electoral Commission (EC) from conducting the upcoming district level elections in the area.

The governor who broke his silence amid the political tension in the state, made this known in a video posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.

The faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly headed by Edison Ehie and loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday morning moved the house plenary session to the Government House, Port Harcourt. This comes amid the ongoing demolition of the assembly complex by Governor Fubara’s administration. It was learnt that the 27 members of the House loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and immediate governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, were absent. The House declared the seats of 25 of them vacant.
