An experienced hiker died in New Hampshire’s White Mountains after making a distress call in which he said he was “very cold,” and his body was recovered by a helicopter amid severe winter conditions, officials said.
The body of a missing hiker was recovered Thursday morning near Mount Guyot, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
Officials said they received a distress call from Christopher Roma on Tuesday saying he was very cold before the call dropped.
An experienced and respected hiker from Thornton perished in the White Mountains Wednesday, despite the heroic efforts of rescuers to reach him through heavy winds and blowing snow.
