(ABC 6 NEWS) - It is Mental Health Awareness Month and National Police Week. Austin's police chief is sharing what officers go through every day when responding to calls and how mental health impacts the department. 
 
Mental health is something that impacts all of us and the Austin Police Department is no stranger to this. 
 
They respond to around 100 mental health incidents, 125 suicidal calls, and perform 600 welfare checks every year. Over the past few weeks, Chief David McKichan has used Facebook to give people a glimpse into what officers work with every day when it comes to mental health.

AUSTIN, Minnesota - As cases in younger Minnesotans continue to increase, Austin Public Schools is aiding in the push to be vaccinated.
Governor Tim Walz is encouraging 16 and 17 year-olds to get the Pfizer vaccine through a series a pop up clinics across the state, including at Mall of America. In Austin, the school district is partnering with Mower County Health & Human Services and the Mayo Clinic Health System for two dates next month at Hastings Gym at Austin High School.

WABASHA — One hundred COVID-19 shots will be coming to Wabasha this week.
At Gundersen St. Elizabeth's Hospital, the staff received 107 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine last week, with 350 seniors age 75 and older applying for a vaccination.
This week, the pool of individuals eligible for the vaccine will be opened up to seniors 65 and older, a much larger number of people who can apply.
