An Enniscorthy man has been forced to sleep in his car for four nights in a row due to the lack of suitable emergency accommodation in the town. Although the former Moyne Nursing Home is now being used to provide temporary, emergency accommodation for up to 28 people in Enniscorthy, it currently only caters for families.

Wexford councillor criticises sale of old garda station to 'private developer'

While work continues apace on converting the old Wexford Garda Station building on Roche’s Road into accommodation for Ukranian refugees, Sinn Féin councillor Davy Hynes has asked why councillors were previously told it would be impossible to convert the building into accommodation.

Nursing home roll-out is light at end of tunnel


Residents and staff at nursing homes across Wexford will begin receiving the Covid-19 vaccination from January 13 of next year.
This news comes as Wexford continues to experience a surge in Covid-19 cases. On Sunday, December 27 a further 40 positive cases in the county were confirmed by the HSE, meaning Wexford retained the second highest 14 day incidence rate in Ireland with 348.6.
The first batch of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in Ireland on Saturday and vaccinations will begin in hospitals today. However, those residing in nursing homes will have to wait a little longer.
Abbeygale House in Wexford town will be the first in the county to receive its consignment of vaccinations on Wednesday, January 13, with residents and staff in Cherry Grove Nursing Home in New Ross receiving theirs a day later.
