As tensions continue to escalate in the region, the US Defense Department has decided to reinforce its presence to maintain stability of the region.
The acquisition will require the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) before signing as it is valued at close to $3 billion and would be the biggest defence contract inked with the US since 2011, when C 17 Globemaster transport aircraft were acquired for over $4 billion.
