Farmers, teachers, coachmen - how a small Hawke's Bay community honours Anzac Day
The memorial is not large, or ostentatious. It’s tucked away on a sweeping bend off Puketitri Rd. But the names have meaning and purpose. They were farmers, teachers, shearers, fencers and coachmen, part of the tight-knit community’s history. Rissington’s roll of honour is carved into a brass plate, consisting of 49 names of those from the farming community who went to the First and Second World Wars.
