The Supreme Court on Thursday held that provisions in Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act (MTP Act) allowing a woman to terminate pregnancy beyond 20 weeks cannot be denied to a woman merely because she is unmarried.
The top court bench, led by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, made the following important observations during a ruling where it was interpreting the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act and its provisions.
