Preparations underway for upcoming elections
Joint efforts have been made to prepare for the upcoming elections, heard a meeting of the National Election Council (NEC) in Hanoi on January 18.
It was reported at the second meeting of the NEC that the council has joined hands with the NA Standing Board, the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee in the preparation work.
As of January 14, the issuance of documents regarding the elections of deputies to the 15th legislature, and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure has been completed.
Efforts have been made to ensure security and safety for the elections, according to chief of the office of the NEC Nguyen Hanh Phuc. Meanwhile, election committees have been set up swiftly in localities. ....

KUALA LUMPUR: Asean should build a new economic ecosystem by promoting the development of digital infrastructure that is accessible for both small businesses and individuals to reinforce its economic recovery efforts and promote sustainable and inclusive growth.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Malaysia said this will help to ensure that the group can be part of the growing digital economy in the region, which is estimated to contribute more than US$240 billion in the next five years.
“On our part, Thailand is developing ‘Asean Digital Hub’, which will help enhance digital infrastructure in Asean, as well as ‘Digital Park Thailand’, as part of our Eastern Economic Corridor. ....

KUALA LUMPUR: The inaugural ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN1) to be hosted by Malaysia in January 2021 will focus on strengthening ASEAN member states’ digital ecosystem in facing the post-Covid-19 era.
The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia’s (KKMM) International Division undersecretary Mano Verabathran said the ASEAN region had witnessed tremendous growth in the digital ecosystem including in e-commerce since the Covid-19 pandemic started early this year.
However, the member states are aware that the cybersecurity and personal data protection aspect has to be realigned in tandem with the growth of the digital ecosytem. ....
