The United States (US) military said on Sunday (Mar 10) that it carried out an operation in violence-hit Haiti to airlift non-essential American embassy personnel from the country. In a statement, the military's Southern Command said, "This airlift of personnel into and out of the embassy is consistent with our standard practice for embassy security augmentation worldwide, and no Haitians were on board the military aircraft."

In the early hours of March 10th, under the cover of night, the U.S. military decisively dispatched Marines to Haiti's embattled capital, Port-au-Prince, to fortify the security of its embassy and remove some American personnel amidst the growing gang violence that threatens the fabric of the troubled nation.

According to Spokesperson Matthew Miller, Secretary Blinken and President Ruto reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the deployment of a Multinational Security Support mission, which aims to strengthen the Haitian National Police's capacity to conduct free and fair elections by establishing necessary security conditions.
