Akshay Kumar's ‘OMG 2’ earns ₹17.27 crore on Day 5, faces competition from ‘Gadar 2’ and collects ₹72.27 crore in 5 days.
The two industry bodies also revealed that the weekend drew over 21 million to theatres across the country, which is the highest combined admissions record in the last 10 years. The box office collections were driven largely by films like Rajinikanth's Jailer, Sunny Deols Gadar 2, Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi's OMG 2 and Chiranjeevis Bhola Shankar.
Rajinikanth's Jailer is now the highest grossing Tamil film and the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2023. The film released on August 10.
