On a Saturday in late September, several dozen individuals enthusiastically gathered with trash bags, gloves, and shovels on a mission to pick up garbage at the Sandy River Delta, the 1,500 acres of wooded trails and a grassy dog park at the confluence of the Sandy River and the Columbia River. County dollars bolster Fairview pantry
Expansion to serve more families with refrigeration unit to increase food storage at new pantry
A Fairview food pantry that initially began with a group of volunteers passing out food boxes to those in need will soon be able to ensure no one goes hungry during the COVID-19 pandemic with an influx of new funds and equipment.
East Multnomah County leaders including Fairview Mayor Brian Cooper, Wood Village Mayor Scott Harden and Troutdale City Councilor Zach Hudson coordinated with Multnomah County to secure CARES ACT dollars for a food pantry operating out of Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2420 N.E. Fairview Ave. The money will purchase a cold refrigeration unit, allowing for better storage at the fledgling pantry. ....
