In September 2013, a clash between the Philippine military and a faction of the Moro National Liberation Front (MILF) in Zamboanga City resulted in days of urban warfare and the displacement of over 100,000 people. The event is known as the Zamboanga City crisis or the Zamboanga Siege. Some of the displaced residents were settled in Tulungatung, Zamboanga City through a government sponsored housing project.
