Jharkhand High Court has ordered the state government to hold municipal polls in Ranchi within three weeks. The court's decision came after a petition filed by former ward councillors for the delay in conducting the elections. The government has not taken steps to issue a notification for conducting the elections, causing hindrances in the welfare schemes of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation.
While the two parties did not win any mayor's seat, 19 candidates of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won as corporators, while eight Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates also became corporators.
