Mary Wells appointed Polk County treasurer, will serve through 2022
The Polk County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to appoint Mary Wells as county treasurer, filling a vacancy left by Mary Maloney, who was serving her seventh term when she died unexpectedly in January. Wells previously served as a platoon leader with the Iowa National Guard, in leadership roles at Wells Fargo, Nationwide and DXC Technology, and was recognized by the NAACP Youth Council and Iowa Department of Human Rights for her philanthropic work, according to a news release.
