Naeem calls for simplifying mosques registration National January 30, 2021 LAHORE: Noted scholar and principal Darul Uloom Jamia Naeemia Dr Ragheb Hussain Naeemi has asked the government to make easy registration process of mosques and religious institutions. He also called for taking into confidence the respected religious institutions, organizations and scholars while evolving the registration process. Initial period should be extended for registration of mosques and institutions, he said while addressing a gathering on Friday. He said a regular advertisement campaign should be started by the government for registration and number of fines imposed on the organizers for late registration should be reduced. The penalty on non-provision of information should also be reduced to a reasonable extent. IHC stops Naeem Bokhari from working as PTV chairman Top Story January 15, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday stopped chairman Pakistan Television (PTV) Naeem Bokhari from performing his duties and directed the Ministry of Information for sending a summary again to the cabinet for the appointment in the light of the Supreme Court’s judgment. Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted hearing of the case during which Deputy Attorney General Syed Tayyab Shah said Attorney General Khalid Javed Khan would arrive and give arguments in the case. Bokhari’s lawyer said Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani was already hearing a case regarding the formation of the PTV board. He said Bokhari’s matter was different from Ata-ul-Haq Qasmi, “who had been receiving heavy incentives, while his client was not taking even salary”. ....

Chief Justice Athar Minullah conducted hearing of the case against the appointment of state-run TV chairman. National January 12, 2021 LAHORE: The appointment of senior lawyer Naeem Bokhari as director and chairman of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) has been challenged before the Lahore High Court. The petitioner, Usman Ghani, mainly argues that the impugned appointment has been made in violation of the Supreme Court judgments. He said the government appointed Bokhari, who is 65 years of age, as the chairman without advertising the post as mandatory under the law and the guidelines set by the superior courts. He alleged that no proper meeting of the board of directors of the state TV was held in accordance with law to appoint the respondent/director as the chairman rather simple direction was given by the prime minister to convene a board meeting to elect the respondent.
