Begum Naseem Wali remembered for sacrifices for democracy

Speakers at a condolence gathering on Saturday paid rich tributes to the late Begum Naseem Wali, the Awami National Party’s (ANP) central leader who passed away this week, for her sacrifices for democracy in the country.
The National Lawyers Forum, a sister organisation of the ANP, had organised the event at Jinnah Auditorium at the Karachi Bar Association (KBA), City Courts.
Speakers at the event recalled Naseem’s struggle against dictatorship and sacrifices for the restoration of democracy in the country.
“The real heroes of the independence movement and true democrats were declared traitors in the country and the British cadres were given power,” said Aurangzeb Buneri, the ANP Sindh acting president. He recalled that atrocities of the rulers in the 1970s forced Naseem to enter into politics.

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday called upon the President and the law minister to resign for the “false reference” against Justice Qazi Faez Isa and took the opportunity to chide the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for not accepting the PPP’s victory in the NA-249 by-election.
According to Geo News, Bilawal made the remarks in a post-NA-249 victory media briefing. “We demand that the President of Pakistan immediately resign. He has no moral authority to remain in office after signing off on a false reference against an honourable judge of the Supreme Court,” he said. “Everyone must resign. Khan Sahab’s entire cabinet is involved in this crime. They all advised the President to take such a step,” Bilawal said, adding that the President “made an error” and that he “should have exercised his own judgment”.

PAGD Wins Top DDC Post In Rajouri

Jammu: The People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Friday won the post of District Development Council (DDC) chairperson in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
Rajouri, which is reserved for Scheduled Tribes, went to the polls in the final phase that marked the conclusion of the election process to DDC posts in all the 20 districts of the Union territory, officials said.
The win in Rajouri gave PAGD, an alliance of various mainstream parties including National Conference, PDP and CPI(M), its third district in Jammu region.
