Nasir Shah terms federal govt's Sindh package 'eyewash'

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has termed Sindh development package announced by prime minister the other day in Sukkur an eyewash and added that all the projects, which are part of the package, are already included in federal budget that have been delayed due to non-allocation of funds.
The Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah stated this while addressing a press conference along with Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Saturday. PPP Karachi Division General Secretary Javed Nagori was also present.
The Minister added that Sukkur –Hyderabad Motorways Project was conceived under CPEC in previous government tenure, Gaaj Dam project was launched in 2013 while schemes of up-grading of passport offices and railway stations in Sindh were already included in federal budget book.

Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah condemned on Tuesday the attack on Pakistan Rangers personnel in Orangi Town a day prior and stated that the chief minister has directed the Sindh IGP and Karachi police chief to increase patrolling in the metropolis to avoid such incidents.
Anti-state elements will be dealt with severely, said Shah, while briefing the media on the Sindh Cabinet’s decisions on Tuesday.
The crime rate in Karachi had drastically fallen due to the sacrifices of law enforcement agencies including the police,Pakistan Rangers Sindh and others, said Shah.

Sindh Forest Minister Nasir Hussain Shah underscored on Sunday the importance of Karachi Zoological Gardens, called attention to problems faced by the zoo and offered assistance for establishing a larger safari park to house animals.
The minister, along with special assistant to the Sindh chief minister on wildlife Bangul Khan Mahar, was visiting the zoo, where he was briefed by the Karachi administrator and Karachi Zoological Gardens director.

NSA Trilateral Secretariat established at NHQ

Reaffirmed strongly with the necessity of the continuation of National Security Adviser (NSA)-level meeting between India, Sri Lanka and Maldives, a secretariat for trilateral National Security Advisers on Maritime Security Cooperation was formed under the auspices of Secretary of Defence, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne at the Navy Headquarters today (01st March 2021).
Based on an agreement reached at the 04th NSA -level trilateral meeting hosted in Colombo on 28th November 2020 with the attendance of defence chiefs of three participating countries, it was decided to establish a secretariat for the convenience of future conclaves.
Through NSA -level meetings, it is expected to pay concerns into the current maritime security environment in the region and discussed mutual cooperation in the areas of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, joint exercises and capacity building. Further, it enables participants to discuss new areas of cooperation in the fields of maritime security and threats, marine pollution and oil spill response, maritime and underwater heritage, maritime legal provisions and COVID-19 response. Meanwhile, Director Naval Operations was appointed as Coordinating Officer of the newly formed secretariat body.

As part of the efforts to help increase the revenue of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Sindh’s local government minister has directed the municipal body to identify land in the city for setting up new filling stations, as well as revise the rents of 71 markets and 274 Hawkesbay huts.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah issued these directions to KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed on Wednesday during the first meeting of the committee formed to explore new avenues of revenue generation for the city’s municipal body, according to a statement released by the provincial government.
