April 15, 2021 Nebraska basketball head coach Fred Hoiberg met with reporters over Zoom on Thursday to give his thoughts on the Huskers’ newest 2021 signees and give the latest on a handful of other topics. Here’s a full rundown of what he had to say… Hoiberg said Xavier freshman transfer CJ Wilcher had “good quality minutes” in the limited opportunities he saw last season. Wilcher’s perimeter shooting immediately stands out, but Hoiberg said he was “a very complete player” who could play strong defense and finish in the paint. Hoiberg said the additions of Wilcher, Keisei Tominaga, Bryce McGowens, and Wilhelm Briedenbach would all help NU hopefully become consistent both from 3-point range and at the free-throw line. ....

Bobby Lutz, Special Assistant to the Head Coach for the past two seasons, left the Husker program last month to pursue his own coaching opportunities. Lutz helped with game planning, non-conference scheduling and assisting Hoiberg and the Husker staff in the day-to-day operation while in Lincoln. He previously served as a collegiate head coach or assistant coach since 1985, and oversaw postseason play as a head coach in 14 of his 21 seasons at the helm. Lutz cited the desire to return to a coaching role as his reason for leaving. ....
