A NCERT committee for curriculum development in India has recommended replacing the term 'India' with 'Bharat' in school textbooks. The committee also suggested highlighting the victories of Hindu kings and representing the history since Independence more accurately. The recommendations are pending approval from the education ministry.
This suggestion has been made by the 2022 Social Science committee, and will be implemented from next academic year, the committee's chairman Prof C.I. Issac (Retd) said.
