Dengue cases increase in 4 regions: DOH

MANILA - An increase in dengue cases has been seen in Zamboanga Peninsula, Cagayan Valley, Western Visayas, and Davao regions, a health official said Tuesday. In an online media forum, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire clarified that only specific areas and provinces have been affected by the spike in dengue cases and not the entire four regions. "Dun sa Zamboanga City, dun natin nakita lumagpas sa epidemic threshold 'yung bilang ng mga kaso (In Zamboanga City, the number of cases exceeded the epidemic threshold). That's why the local government declared an outbreak," she said. Nonetheless, the weekly reported cases in 2022 were still significantly lower than "the cases we had in 2021 nationally." "Nag-uulan na po so kailangan na masusing linisin ang mga backyard natin, ang ating mga tahanan, public spaces para mawala itong aedes aegypti o 'yung lamok na nakaka-cause ng dengue (It has been raining in the past days so we need to thoroughly ....

Rains to prevail across PH Wednesday

(File photo) MANILA - Most parts of the country will continue to experience rains caused by two weather systems and the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA), the weather bureau said Wednesday. In its 4 a.m. weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the Eastern Visayas, Bicol, Mimaropa, Caraga, and Davao regions, as well as the provinces of Aklan, Capiz, Quezon, and Aurora brought by the shear line affecting the eastern section of southern Luzon and the Visayas, and the trough of the LPA. Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains, PAGASA said. Rain showers likely over parts of PH Wednesday

MANILA - Some areas in the country will experience rains caused by the shear line, easterlies, and the northeast monsoon or "amihan", the weather bureau said Wednesday. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Batanes and Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, due to the shear line. The same weather condition will be experienced in the Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Davao regions, as well as Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Bohol, but this is caused by the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin. Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains. The northeast monsoon, on the other hand, will bring isolated light rains over the Ilocos provinces, Apayao, Abra, and Kalinga.
