An experiment in education: Loudoun County Public Schools works to complete hybrid rollout in shadow of rising COVID-19 cases

At the start of this month, all Loudoun County Public Schools students up through grade 5 were eligible to return to the classroom part-time within the school system’s staged hybrid learning implementation plan. Now, LCPS administration is finalizing its preparations to welcome middle- and high-school students back into facilities, though rising COVID-19 infection rates loom more ominously by the day.
Loudoun students between grades 6 and 12 are scheduled to begin hybrid learning Jan. 21, the first day of the spring semester, unless their parents prefer they continue entirely virtual learning. This step — the fourth and final stage of hybrid implementation — will come on the tail of intense preparation efforts by both school-level and senior administrators, rendered even trickier by the staggered nature of secondary school schedules.
