SOUTH BEND — A recent study found that the efforts of the South Bend Heritage Foundation generated an economic impact of nearly $67 million in the community over a five-year period.
The study was performed by New England Market Research in partnership with NeighborWorks America and considered the impact generated by the Heritage Foundation from 2014 through 2019. Among other things, the nonprofit organization builds, rehabilitates and manages affordable housing and commercial properties with the goal of enriching neighborhoods.
The study found that South Bend Heritage projects sustained the equivalent of 40 jobs annually and generated more than $5 million in federal, state and local taxes. The economic impact study noted that for every $1 in the organization’s budget, it creates $4.29 in total economic output. ....
