May 17, 2021 Yesterday, education advocates rallied in Rochester, calling to action for greater equity for students. With the hashtag, #StandUp4Equity, the New York Charter Schools Association, Glory House International, and other members of the community gathered at the Liberty Pole to say that students all across New York are being failed by school systems, especially students of color. New York Charter School Association Executive Director Yomika Bennett made a statement; “You could do something as simple as go to the school board meetings to be a part of the process that the federal government has set all the funding for schools. Our message is be a part of that process, be an equity warrior and go out there and let them know they need to change the system.”
