Americans, building upon the great record of accomplishment that came out of the last congress. but we also have to find our way out of a nibbling extreme right wing individuals in the congress to use the debt ceiling down the road to take us down this hostage taking exercise and try to extract a painful ransom. and so, we need to look at the options, legislatively, i think that would be the best solution. that is in front of us. and to see where the opportunities are, moving forward. mcconnell had agreed on a proposal initially, several years ago, that would change the formula related to the debt ceiling and effectively give the administration through the secretary of treasury, the ability and presumption to be able to do this without, you know, congress being able to weigh in at the front and. so, i think we need to look at that because it s a proposal that sent it, republicans have at least supported in the past. and then the administration came to explore, you know, some ....

So, we saw it in 2011. they did it again, it s now pushed through to 2025, right? the next time they will have to raise the debt ceiling, let s say you have a president biden and republican congress again, not a crazy idea, right? it s like, okay, we are going to go through this every time. has it changed anyone s thinking, among your house colleagues, that you have to get rid of this thing once and for all? whether it s to do it when he was democratic leader and essentially come together and just get rid of its statutorily, whether the white house has to look into saying, look, the constitution doesn t allow us not to pay our debts. where are you on that? because that seems, to me, still the kind of unfinished business of this deal. yes, i think very good point, chris. it s in all of the above approach. first thing that we have to do is get through this moment, make sure the country pays our bills, avoid a default, and we can continue to build an economy that works for everyday am ....

And trump s comments suggest that he would like to share the information but he is aware of limitations on his ability post-presidency to declassify records. it gets straight at what he understood and there is reporting anybodying around nibbling around the edges, but this reporting seems to put a whole lot of new information in the public side of what we understand in terms of the strength of jack smith s case and understanding trump s true intent. yeah, and i think this is really interesting because everything that andrew just said assumes that there really was a four page classified document about iran that the president was talking about when he was apparently being interviewed by people doing an autobiography of mark meadows. and i assume back to your point about how long ago did jack smith figure this out, how smart of jack smith to say let s interview anyone who ever interviewed trump after left the ....

And republicans wanted to increase defense spending, and democrats obviously wanted to reduce defense spending as part of this deal is there really only talking about remaining 15% so trying to get some sort of a concrete structural change that s going to make a difference in the spending trajectory of the country over 15% is really hard, and that s where some of those very archconservative members were saying, you know what s going to be in this deal? is it just going to be nibbling around the edges? that s a problem for them. yeah there is talk that speaker mccarthy is going to need some democrat votes to support whatever is in this deal because some of his most conservative members are not what i m looking off to the side here just because we re seeing a little bit of traffic there from the from the speaker s office here just to see if there s some coming and going. there s the memorial day concert here on capitol hill. and so there s a lot of tourists in the building and then prett ....
