The 30-share BSE Sensex pack jumped 1,031 points or 1.78 per cent to close at 58,992; while the broader NSE Nifty index moved 279 points or 1.63 per cent higher to settle at 17,360.
The 30-share BSE Sensex pack jumped 346 points or 0.60 per cent to close at 57,960; while the broader NSE Nifty index moved 129 points or 0.76 per cent higher to settle at 17,081. Mid and smallcap shares finished on a strong note, with the Nifty Midcap 100 up 1.54 per cent and Nifty Smallcap 100 rising 1.73 per cent.
The indices opened the day higher and continued to gain to reach a high of 61,113.27 on Sensex, but pared some gains before the close. Most of the index participants were in the green
Among Sensex scrips, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Titan, Maruti Suzuki India, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Nestle were the major gainers. Power Grid, NTPC, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro and Tata Steel were the laggards.
