AMESBURY — Folks looking to get in the Halloween spirit while spending time with their fellow citizens can look forward to frightful films played outdoors at Heritage Park every Friday

The shop will primarily stock indie horror titles along with a few gifts and used books. It also will provide a venue for events such as author readings and signings.

Horror movie fans are some of the most peculiar people that I know. A bit cultish by nature, almost all of them are self-described weirdos, outcasts and misfits. They are bound together by the belief that they live on the fringes of society; and even though there's this camaraderie among them, they still bicker back and forth about what makes a great horror movie -- is it the blood, gore and body count, or is it suspense, jump scares, and the atmosphere created by things that go bump in the night?

The City of Suffolk is offering several safe Halloween-related events for families. The city is reminding people that trick-or-treating is for those ages 12 and under.
