A group of experts then installed a Global Positioning System (GPS) and radar that penetrated the ground on the mountain in May 2019. The whole process had a total cost of around $1.65 million (AUD). A new height 8848.86 meters of Mt Sagarmatha/Zhumulangma was jointly announced by Nepal and China. The Presidents of Nepal and China exchanged letters on the event.
